Ruth E. Nolan

Ruth E. Nolan, age 89, of Hanover, Illinois died Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover, with Father Everett Hiller as Celebrant, assisted by Deacon David Wilbricht. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois. A visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. November 11, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Memorials may be given in Ruth’s name for the Saint Anne’s Society at the church. Ruth was born February 18, 1918, the daughter of Reynold and Loretta (Geisenhoner) Sandman, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1935 and went on to graduate from Clarke College, Dubuque in 1939. Ruth married Warren Nolan.
She worked as a Budget Analyst at the Savanna Army Depot for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1989. Ruth was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover.
Ruth very much loved and enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and exploring for new restaurant locations.
Ruth will be dearly missed by a daughter, Loretta (Bruce) Armstead of Warrenton, Missouri; three sons, Michael (Diane) Nolan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Reynold Nolan of Hanover and Dan Nolan of Hanover; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Patrick and William.
