Ruth Ann Marks

Ruth A. Marks, of Savanna, IL, formerly of Elizabeth, IL, has gone home to Heaven on April 20, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Savanna. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service in Antl Hall, connected to the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Ruth was born September 29, 1937, to Wesley and Marie (Handt) Holland. She attended Elizabeth schools, and graduated from Elizabeth High School with the class of 1955. On February 12, 1955, Ruth married the love of her life, Harlan Marks. The couple raised five children and celebrated 51 years of marriage, until Harlan’s passing in 2006. Ruth worked as a CNA at Elizabeth Nursing Home, and also worked at Max’s in Elizabeth. In her spare time Ruth loved to play games and cards.

Ruth is survived by her four children; Joan (Jim) Leitzen of Stockton, IL, Dave (Veronica) Marks, of Orangeville, Tom (Holly) Marks of Elizabeth, and Gerald Marks of Savanna; one sister, Bertha Weigert Herman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Marie; her husband, Harlan; her son, Alan; four brothers and two sisters.
