Ruth was best known for her kindness toward others. She would give you what she had even if it meant going without. She had a good sense of humor, always in the mood to joke around. She was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend, cook, etc.
Ruth loved going on rides and spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Days of Our Lives, and collecting dolls. She loved sitting at Greens, having coffee and socializing. But the thing she enjoyed most was being with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
Anyone she came across she left a great impression on. In addition to her children, she was a mother to many.
Ruth is survived by three children, Tammy (Jeremy) Holmbo, Donna (David) Olson, and Paul (Michele) Lahre all of Savanna; 10 siblings, LaDeen Getchaway of San Francisco, CA, Sandy Parker of Savanna, Rusty (Beverly) Parker of Bushnell, IL, Sheila (Harold) Beaston of AR, Steve (Janet) Parker of Clinton, IA, Bonnie Harlston of Denison, IA, Rosina Crotts of Savanna, Clay (Judy) Parker of Sabula, IA, Tina Anaya of Rochelle, IL, and Edward Parker of Iowa City, IA; six grandchildren, Ashleigh, Caitlyn, Brandon, Jayden, Ethen, and Krysta; and many nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Rose Marie Parker, her father, Edward “Corky” Parker, one son, David Lahre, and a granddaughter, Ashley Olson.
“I loved you all my life and now I’ll miss you the rest of mine”
