Russell H. Smith, age 80, of Preston, Iowa, died April 27, 2010, at the Crest Ridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, IA. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston with Pastors Tom and Sandra Berryman officiating. Burial will take place in the Preston Cemetery, Preston. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Jackson County Hospice in Russell’s honor.
Russell was born June 8, 1929, the son of Harry H. and Bernice Z. (Lingle) Smith in Sabula, Iowa.
Russell worked for Clinton Engines and Champion Packing. He was a member of the Miles Presbyterian Church, Miles Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with friends, sharing stories and looking at antique cars.
Russell is survived by his brother, Donald (Sandra) Smith of Preston; several nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
