Russell J. Byers, age 49 of Lanark, Illinois, died on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at his home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll, Illinois. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the visitation. Interment of his cremains will be in the Fairmont Cemetery, Polo, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established in Russell's memory.
Russell was born on November 24, 1956 in Freeport, Illinois, the son of Oscar and Delores (Joynt) Byers. He attended Forreston High School and graduated with the class of 1975. He married Rhonda Heckman on September 27, 1975 in Forreston, Illinois. Russell was employed by Janssen Farms in Lanark for the past five years. He previously worked at Elkay Manufacturing in Lanark, Illinois for sixteen years.
Russell loved spending time with his family and friends, but most of all he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was proud of aquiring his Commercial Drivers License, which allowed him to drive Tractor Trailers. He enjoyed attending Tractor Pulls and spending time with his dog, Jessie.
Russell will be dearly missed by his wife, Rhonda; one son, Ryan Byers of Lanark, Illinois; one daughter Christina ( Scott Douglass) Brinkmeier of Sterling, Illinois; his mother, Delores Byers of Forreston, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Jasmynne Brinkmeier of Sterling; one brother, Richard (Jean) Byers of Forreston, Illinois; two sisters, Ruby (Herman) North of South Beloit, Wisconsin and Ruth Byers of Hillsboro, North Carolina: and many nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his father, Oscar.
