Russell Stanley Bedford II, age 55, of Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
Russell was born April 7, 1961, Somerville, New Jersey, the son of Russell and Mary (Echler) Bedford. He attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School in Bridgewater, New Jersey and graduated with the Class of 1980. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy, then returned home, and after a seven-day courtship, Russell married Marsha Cook on March 5, 1984. They celebrated 26 years of marriage until Marsha’s death on April 7, 2010.
Russell was a member of the Faith Center Church in Albany, Illinois, the Victory Center Ministries and a former Boy Scout. He enjoyed playing Farmville on Facebook and loved helping people whenever he could.
Russell will be dearly missed by three children, Elisha Widner of Clinton, RJ (Elisha) Bedford of Ottawa Kansas, and Bridget Campbell of Freemont, Indiana; one stepson, Christopher (Crystal) Peterson of Ottawa, Kansas; one stepdaughter, Danette (Tim) Coorough of Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren and a brother, Herbert (Maggie) Bedford of Kissimmee, Florida. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marsha; his parents, Russell and Mary, and his sister, Joann Jensen.
