Russell J. Bannister, age 94 passed away at his home in Savanna, Illinois Sunday, October 25, 2009. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2009 from 1:00pm - 3:00 pm at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, IL.
Russell born in Lowell, Mass. June 22, 1915 to Joseph and Florence (Bainbridge) Bannister.
Russell retired in 1990 from the Department of Army serving in an advisory group to the Department of Defense at the time of his retirement. Russell served on the Savanna Library Board for several years, and was a charter member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association in your community would be appreciated.
Survived by his loving wife of 66 years Mary (Piccaro) Bannister; a son Stephen (Judith deceased) Bannister, a daughter Ann (Don)Ehrsam; four Grandchildren, Chris (Vicki)Ehrsam, Matt (Sarah) Ehrsam, Amy (Mike) North, and Alyssa Ehrsam; and numerous great grandchildren; a nephew Richard Bannister; a Sister-in-law, Winnie Bannister. Russell is preceded in death by one brother Norman Bannister; a sister Lillian Ryan; and a daughter-in-law Judith Bannister.
