Rudolph Lenkeit, age 80, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at his home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Church of God, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in Rudolph’s honor.
Rudolph was born March 13, 1926, the son of Christopher and Gertrud (Genutt) in Heydekrug, East Prussia. On October 10, 1953, Rudolph married Berta Berktold in Germany.
Rudolph was a carpenter by trade, building the Mt. Carroll Motel in 1978 and operating it for eleven years. Rudolph was a Fifty Year Member of the Carpenters Union. He was a member of the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Rudolph dedicated time to missionary work in Central and South America, building orphanages. He enjoyed fishing and taking long walks with his wife Berta.
Rudolph will be dearly missed by his wife, Berta of Mt.Carroll; his son, Peter (Annette) Lenkeit of St. Charles, Illinois; two daughters, Sonja (Jeffrey) Vosecek of Oswego, Illinois and Christina (Robert) Gulley of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; and eight grandchildren.
Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.
