Ruby B. McCall age 93, of Elizabeth, Illinois entered into eternity on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Elizabeth with Pastor Kyungsu Park officiating. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Freeport, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Ruby was born on August 28, 1920 in Pleasant Valley Township rural Stockton, Illinois the daughter of Orin and Pearl (Coppernoll) Gothard. She attended Stockton High School and graduated with the Class of 1938. On January 8, 1941, Ruby married Lloyd Earl McCall in Clinton, Iowa. Lloyd passed away January 16, 2002 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Ruby worked at the Pioneer Vet Clinic in Elizabeth for fourteen years as a secretary/bookkeeper. She also worked as the treasurer of Elizabeth and River Ridge School Districts for nineteen years. Ruby later became self-employed as an income tax preparer.
Ruby was a fifty-year member of the Stockton Chapter #330 Order of the Eastern Star, Freeport Chapter #3 White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Elizabeth Evening Extension Unit. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Elizabeth for over sixty years and the Elizabeth Lions Club. She enjoyed reading, crosswords and other puzzles.
Ruby will dearly missed by her two sons, Stuart A. (Susan) McCall of Naperville and Dale E. (Kathleen) McCall of Elizabeth; four granddaughters, Aimee (Chris) Reinkall, Tammy (David) Winter, Lisa Franz and Erin McCall; six great-grandchildren, Nick Hanson, Jenna Hanson, Makayla Benson, Olivia Winter, Thomas Winter and Riley Franz; three brothers, Clifford (Thelma) Gothard of Stockton, Eugene (Phyllis) Gothard of Freeport, Leon (Alice) Gothard of Terry, Montana; one sister, Helen (Marshall) Raab of Red Oak, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Lloyd; four sisters, Thelma Raab, Anna Curley Klitz, Ethel Meador and Elizabeth Duffield; four brothers, Maynard, Edward, Marvin and an infant son; her grandson Kyle McCall and great-grandson Cody Benson.
