Rosemary L. Potter, age 91, of East Moline, formerly of Thomson, Illinois passed through the gates of Heaven on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini in Silvis, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Rosemary’s memory.
Rosemary was born October 14, 1922 the daughter of Roy and Mae (Conley) Straitt in Savanna, Illinois. She married Eugene G. Potter on July 4, 1942 in Clayton, New Mexico. Eugene died on September 16, 2004.
Rosemary was a homemaker who treasured taking care of her family. She was a member of the Catholic Faith. She also worked in the cafeteria for the Thomson School District for several years. Most of all, Rosemary cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Robert (Barbara) Potter of East Moline, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Lavonna (Lauren) Mitchell of Geneseo, Illinois three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great grandchildren and one special nephew, Steve.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene; one brother, Robert Straitt and four sisters, Alta Moore, Bernice Fulrath, Fern Flickinger and Carolyn Kronberg.
