Rosemary (Haller) Bennett, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation. Father Dennis Atto will be Celebrant. A private internment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Rosemary was born January 5, 1926 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Cyrus A. and Mary (Tappe) Haller. She was a graduate of Aquin High School and attended Rosary College, River Forest, Illinois. On January 31, 1948, Rosemary married Gene R. Bennett and settled in Savanna. For twenty years Rosemary worked for the railroad, retiring in 1985. She was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and recently received the Diamond Circle Award. Rosemary loved playing Bridge and gave lessons to many around, Savanna. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and their Ladies Society.
Rosemary will be dearly missed by her husband, Gene; two sons, Mark (Carol) Bennett and Stephen (Linda) Bennett of Omaha, NE. ; one daughter, Julia (Richard) Maples of Danville, Virginia; five grandchildren, Rob (Wendy) Bennett, Beth (Chris) Tiller, Scott Craven, Matt Maples and Jacob Maples;. one great grandchild, Kole Maples; one brother, Robert (Jeanne) Haller of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and one sister, Lucille McKinstra of Freeport, Illinois. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
