Rose Taplin

Rosie Anna “Rose” Taplin was reunited with her husband, Allison James “Junior” Taplin, in their eternal “nest” above on July 10, 2016. Rose was born December 6, 1922, in Spencer, South Dakota, to Matthias and Catherine (Weisler) Haiar, living most of her childhood life in Zwingle and Hurstville, IA. She met Junior while squirrel hunting and the two were joined in marriage on October 4, 1945, in Sabula, IA where the couple would make home for nearly 50 years before moving to Clinton, IA.
Rose shared with her family a love of laughter and spending time together, playing Canasta and having a good fish fry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allison Taplin; six brothers, Simon, Isidore, Richard, Frank, Theodore, and Jericho; and a son, Ronald.
Her spirit is carried on by her two sisters, Gladys and Martha; her six children, Joseph (Diana) Taplin, Delores (Rodney) Pickett, William (Debora) Taplin, Susan (Ronald) Schwartz, John (Tina) Taplin, Candace (Christopher) Buikema; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other friends and family too numerous to list, but not forgotten.
Friends may celebrate Rose’s wonderful life with her family and Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, with visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m, prior to the service. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Sabula. Memorials may be made to any hospice association of the donor’s choice.
