Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Rose Mary Stewart, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at the age of 74. If you knew her, you knew that she was sweet and never wanted to burden others, but also could speak her mind and let you know what-was-what. Family was her main focus. Rose would even play video games and have a Mario party with the grandkids, loving every minute of it.
Rose was born November 27, 1948 in Savanna, the daughter of Russell and Edna (Shaw) Greene. She is a 1966 graduate of Savanna High School.
In 1984, she married Frederick Stewart. Even though they had different interests, they have remained loving partners for 38 years. Frederick liked the country, especially when they lived in Wyoming; Rose wanted to live close to town, and always near other family, they somehow made it work. Over the years Rose lived in Illinois, Wyoming, Iowa and Wisconsin, but always came back home near Savanna. She enjoyed traveling.
She worked hard in her life, with her biggest passion, being a mom to her four children, Susan, Paul, Fred Jr., and Angela. She cared for others as she worked over 20 years at Big Meadows Nursing Home. In younger years, Rose worked at Eaton Corporation in Savanna. In her time off, Rose enjoyed playing bingo, she knew where to play every night of the week. Once Facebook came out, she enjoyed playing Farmville. Grandma kept up with the times. Her friends were important to her also and she always enjoyed talking, socializing and taking short trips.
Rose will be dearly missed by her four children, Susan (Christopher) Harmon of Dubuque, Iowa, Paul Green of Camanche, Iowa, Frederick, Jr (Irene) Stewart of Low Moor, Iowa and Angela (Brian) Wilburn of Dewitt, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her brother, Randy (Sherry) Greene of Richland Center, Wisconsin; and her sister, Nancy Suddath of Savanna, IL. Rose is preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Russell “Rusty” Greene; and two sisters, Rita Kay Banks and Peggy Sue Greene.
