Rose Mary Pettera, age 52, of Hanover, Illinois, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 in her home. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover Celebrant will be Father Everett J. Hiller and assisted by Deacon Dave Wilbricht. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. A memorial fund has been established in Rose’s memory.
Rose was born on March 29, 1955 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence Calvin and Frances (Henkel) Holland. Rose graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1973. On October 16, 1976 Rose married Roger Pettera. In 1985 she graduated from Clarke College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Rose was employed by Eaton Corporation in Hanover until 1982. She then worked at Galena Hospital as a Charge Nurse until 2006. Rose was an EMT for Hanover Ambulance for over twenty-five years. She enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crocheting and reading. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Rose a member of St. John the evangelist Catholic Church and the Friendship Quilters Guild.
Rose will be dearly missed by her husband, Roger of Hanover; her daughter, Amy Pettera of Hanover; her father, Lawrence Holland of Galena, Illinois; four brothers, Frank Holland of Galena, Paul (Marsha) Holland of Rapid City, Illinois, Lawrence Calvin (Tammi) Holland, Jr. of East Moline, Illinois, and Harold (Beth) Holland of Princeton, Iowa; seven sisters, Barbara (late John) Outcalt of East Dubuque, Illinois, Susan (Dorrance) Averkamp of East Dubuque, Linda (Thomas) Russell of Eldridge, Iowa, Elizabeth (Patrick) Hess of Poinette, Wisconsin, twin sister Mary Rose (late Donald) Schmidt of Hanover, Carol Holland of Galena, and Catherine (Mark) Helling of Dubuque, Iowa.
Rose was preceded in death by her mother, Francis; a son Raymond Albert Pettera; a brother William and one sister Lorraine.
