Rose Marie Klippert, age 94, of Elizabeth, Illinois, previously of Savanna, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, Illinois. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Antl Hall prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given for the Elizabeth Nursing Home, and in honor of Rose, please offer a Mass or prayer for a loved-one or someone in-need.
Rose was born May 16, 1922 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Angus and Catherine (MacClean) MacGillivray. On February 4, 1944, Rose married Ross Klippert in St. Bernard’s Church, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Rose and Ross moved to the U.S.A. in 1946, and in 1957 she became a naturalized citizen. They raised three children and celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage. Ross passed away December 8, 2002 in Savanna.
Rose was a world class cookie maker, she loved to work in the kitchen providing many delicious meals and treats for family and friends. She also worked as an Inspector for Eaton Corporation in Savanna for many years. In younger years, Rose worked in retail sales in Canada. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna and also St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover.
Rose will be dearly missed by two sons, Michael (Elaine) Klippert of Elizabeth and Timothy (Kate) Klippert of Garfield, Arkansas; a daughter, Darlene (John) Murphy of Racine, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Mark (Monica) Klippert, Andrew (Alaina) Klippert, Matthew (Yecelia) Dansereau, Evan and Erin Murphy; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Madeline and Alivia Klippert; three brothers, Billy MacGillivray, Omar (Doris)MacGillivray and Campbell MacGillivray, all of Canada; and a sister, Claire Mitchell of Florida.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Ross; a grandson, Aaron Michael Klippert; nine brothers, Raymond and Vincent, twins in infancy, Jack, Father Joe, Collie, Ronald, Hughie, Duncan and Johnnie; and four sisters, Mary Janet, Kay, Margaret and Sarah.
