Rosalyn M. "Rosie" Calvert

Rosalyn M. “Rosie” Calvert, age 79, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June, 20, 2007 at the Thomson United Methodist Church, Thomson, Illinois. Pastor Paul Judd will officiate. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Rosie’s memory.
Rosie was born January 27, 1928, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Middendorf) Leifker, in Menominee, Illinois. Rosie attended Galena High School. Rosie married Kenneth W. Calvert on November 18, 1950 in Galena. They were married 52 years. Rosie worked for Alco in Savanna retiring in 1989.
Rosie was a special person and loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed playing card games, shopping with her daughters, watching the Cubs, “even when they were losing.” But most of all she loved spending time with her family and little dog Dolly.
Rosie will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Bobbi Harrell (Brian Kamen) of Savanna, and Mary (Dennis) Hebeler of Thomson; three sons, Kenneth (Cathy) Calvert of Marion, Iowa, Walter Calvert of Cuba City, Wisconsin, and Michael (Joy) Calvert of Clinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one great-grand daughter; three Step-grandchildren; one Step-great granddaughter; a sister, Dorothy Bauer of Galena; and a brother in-law, Robert (Carole) Calvert of Bellevue, Nebraska.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken, three sisters, and three brothers.
