Ronnie D. Cox, age 70, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at the New Hope Assembly of God Church, Savanna, with Russell Turner officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at the Chandlerville Township Cemetery, Chandlerville, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to the family in Ronnie’s memory.

Ronnie was born June 4, 1941, in Virginia, Illinois, the son of Delbert Robert and Ruth Marie (Lynn) Cox. He married Frankie Lee Smith on June 9, 1963, in Chandlerville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2001.

Ronnie and Frankie moved to Savanna in 1966. Ronnie went to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a machinist, retiring in 2000. He then made his home in Beardstown and Chandlerville, Illinois, and moved back to Savanna in 2006, where he lived with his sons Dale and Lloyd. Ronnie loved all kinds of sports and enjoyed talking to “ALL” about sports. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, traveling, being around people, and his dogs Buddy and Brody.

Ronnie is survived and lovingly remembered by three sons, Robert Dale Cox of Savanna, Illinois, Richard Leon Foss of La Porte, Indiana, and Lloyd Brandon Carter of Savanna; three grandchildren; four sisters, Bonnie (Gary) Abney of Savanna, Karen Sue (Jack) Fritchnitch of Morris, Illinois, Linda (Larry) Stake of Chilicothe, Illinois, and Maryland Jean (Jerry) Force of Beardstown, Illinois; two brothers, Larry (Pat) Cox of Savanna, and Delbert Arthur (Mary) Cox of Chilicothe; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Vickie Durr of Chilicothe.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frankie Lee Cox; three sisters, Betty Mathis, Thelma Carey, and Shirley Ruth; and two brothers, Ronald Dean Cox and Sherald Cox.
