Ronald R. Starr, age 70, of Thomson, Illinois died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Law -Jones Funeral Home in Thomson with Pastor Michael Jones of the York Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Military Rites will be accorded by the Donald Ashpole American Legion Post # 1025, Thomson. Friends may call from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday December 23, 2005 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family in Ronald’s name.
Ronald was born August 14, 1935 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Harold and Flossie (Grover) Starr. He was a graduate of Thomson High School, Class of 1952. Ronald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Lois Bultema on May 29, 1970 in Fulton, Illinois.
Ronald worked as a Boiler-Maker and was a member of the Boiler Makers Union Local # 16. He put his skills to work all around Illinois and parts of Iowa. Ronald enjoyed flying his own plane, he was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a true Green Bay Packer fan.
Ronald will be deeply missed by his son, Timothy Starr of Peoria, Illinois; Two brothers, Kenneth (Arlene) Starr and Lowell (Donna) Starr, both of Thomson. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Bryan Neil Starr.
