Ronald Eugene Nemec

Ronald Eugene Nemec, age 77, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away on September 13, 2025, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna.

Ron was born on April 15, 1948, in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of Richard and Patricia (Knealy) Nemec. He attended Holy Cross High School in River Grove and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Ron began a lifelong career with the Milwaukee Railroad, where he worked as an Engineer for a total of 41 years. Ron also helped work on the Railroad display at the Savanna Museum and Cultural Center and he was a member of the Milwaukee Railroad Historical Society.

Family was always important to Ron. He is survived by his son, Patrick; his daughter, Melissa; his grandson, Dominic; and his sister, Donna. He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother, and twin sons in 1977.

A visitation for friends and family will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
