Ronald Duane Hagen, 84, of Stoughton, Wisconsin, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison following surgery. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Savanna with Pastor Dan Foelske officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30, prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 Third Street, Savanna, IL 61074 or the American Heart Association in Ron’s memory.
Ron was born May 21, 1932 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the son of Alfred Christ Hagen and Hilda Delores (Sorlie) Hagen. Ron Married Lois Elaine Wieman on September 9, 1950 at the Lutheran Church in Igloo, S.D. Lois died on July 27, 2008 in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Ron was a long-time resident of Savanna, Illinois. Ron worked for the Department of Defense for 36 years and taught at the ammunition school at the Savanna Army Depot for many years. Ron and his wife owned and operated Palisades Golf Course for more than 34 years from 1961 to 1995.
Ron was an active member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Savanna where he served on the church council, the estate committee and was instrumental in working with the congregation and contractors to complete the church addition.
Ron is survived by three children: Susan (Jeffrey) Clark, John (Marsha) Hagen, Connie Hagen (Bill Lamm) and a son-in-law, Hal Sutter. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: James (Erin) Clark, Rachel Clark (Eric Anderson), Christine (Travis) Stannard, Joshua (Oneida) Hagen, Morgan (Megan) Hagen, Taylor, Sloane and Steffan Hagen, Andrew (Rachael) Sutter, Hannah Sutter, Andrea (Matt) Hess, Julie (Buddy) Burton and Steve Lamm; ten great grandchildren Mikayla, Rian, Connor, Bernadette, Clementine, Emmanuelle, Rebekah, Isaac, Amy and Matthew; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Wieman; and two nephews, James (Angel) Wieman and Jonathan (Jessica) Wieman.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hagen, his parents, Alfred & Hilda Hagen, his daughter, Kathleen Marie Hagen Sutter and his brother-in-law, James Wieman.
