Ronald John Gray, age 71 of Miles, Iowa died Friday, August 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Andover, Iowa. Burial will take place in Miles City Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ron’s memory for Faith Lutheran Church's mission work.
Ron was born on September 21, 1940 to Chester and Luverne (Feddersen) Gray in Clinton, Iowa. He attended Miles High School and graduated with the class of 1959. Ron married Janice Eggers on January 8, 1960 in the Faith Lutheran Church, Andover.
Ron was a lifelong farmer in Miles, Iowa and the surrounding area. Ron loved farming, enjoyed growing grain and hay, raising cattle and hogs. Ron was a longtime member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Andover. Above all, Ron treasured spending time with his family and farming. His most treasured accomplishment was sending all of his children and his wife through college and onto many advanced degrees.
Ron will be deeply missed by his wife, Janice of Miles; three sons, Joel (James Murray) Gray of Tucson, Arizona, Neil (Crystal) Gray of Miles and Paul (Debra) Gray of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one daughter, Lynn (Paul) Erickson of St. Paul, Minnesota; one sister, Betty (Bill) Collins of Clinton, Iowa, one niece, Tammy (Danny) Ryan; one nephew, Tim Collins and their beloved extended families: Leontyne Smith and daughters, Waymanita Smith-Hillman and Antoinette Holman; Keo (Morina) Phetsavanh and their daughters; Outhone (Manyvanh) Anoasinh and children, and Samay (Somphone) Phetsavanh and children.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Gray, and grandchildren Hannah Erikson and Livingston Pogson.
