Ronald J. Frys, of Thomson, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 2nd, at his home. A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson.
Ron was born March 31st, 1949, son of Thaddeus and Lillian (Labno) Frys. He grew up in Chicago, and attended Gordon Technical High School, graduating with the class of 1967. After graduation Ron joined the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea operating radios during the Vietnam War. After returning from war Ron met the love of his life, Linda Talley. After dating for a few years the couple got married in 1975. Together Ron and Linda raised one son and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Throughout his entire life Ron loved riding motorcycles and racing cars. Since he could drive he had always spent time souping up his cars and bikes to perform at their best. He liked to drag race at Lake Geneva and Elston avenue often. Ron also loved his motorcycles. Starting off with his first, a Triumph, Ron moved on to Harleys, and never looked back. Ron and Linda took many trips on their bike, including trips to Sturgis and Daytona Beach. In his free time, Ron liked to fish. He loved going boating on the river with family and friends.
Ron worked for the Jewel Warehouse in Chicago for over 35 years. He was a forklift operator and a longtime member of the teamsters union. At the center of Ron’s life was his family. He would do anything for his son and grandchildren, and was always fair and kind — values that Ron instilled in those he leaves behind.
Ronald will be dearly missed by his wife Linda, his son Ron Jr, his brother Ted, his Daughter in law Jenny and his granddaughters Nichole, Kaitlyn, Hailey, and Aliyah.
