Ronald L. Bull, 86 of Savanna, Illinois died Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Windsor Manor, Morrison, Ill. His family surrounded him as he passed into his eternal home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Visitation will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ronald “Bud” Bull was born June 2, 1930 in Morrison, Ill., the son of Hank and Myrtle Young. He attended York Community School in Thomson. Bud married Rita M. Wolfe on January 20, 1951 in Savanna, Illinois. Rita died on March 12, 2015.Prior to serving in the United States Army, Ronald “Bud” worked at Philips Service Station in Thomson. Upon his return from serving his country Bud began his career at Interstate Power Company for 38 years. While maintaining this full time job he also was a farmer and owned and operated Farm & Town Real Estate Agency. Ronald “Bud”, was a member of the Savanna Moose Lodge. He also served and co-founded The Northern Illinois Sports Hall of Fame where he enjoyed honoring athletes from northern Illinois and emceeing the annual banquets for many years. Ronald “Bud” played softball on the Thomson Merchants Softball team for 29 years.
Ronald “Bud” was a devoted husband and father to his six children. He enjoyed nothing more than watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. He loved traveling with Rita, his family, and special friends on many vacations, especially during his retirement years.
Ronald “Bud” will be dearly missed by his five children, Kathy (Lou) Bull of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Rhonda (Marv) Cass of Solon, Iowa, Paula Losch of Savanna, Ronald (Martha) Bull of Thomson, Tom Bull of Pearl City, and a daughter-in-law Joy Bull of Springfield, Illinois, 12 grandchildren, Jessica (Trevor) Volz, Justin Bull, Kelsey Bull, Melissa Bull, Evan Bull, Tommy Losch, Timmy Losch, Blake Burbach-Bull, Tessie Cass, Christopher Cass, Lexie Cass, Nicholas Cass, and 4 great-grandchildren, Khyla, Briella, Addalyn, Graham, and a set of great grandchildren twins due in December, and a step-sister, Lorraine Eissens.
Ronald “Bud” was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Rita; one son, Donnie in 2003; three brothers; three sisters; four step-brothers; and one grandson, David Cass.
