Ronald A. Basile

Ronald A. Basile, age 70, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna.

Ron was born June 10, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Anthony “Tony” and Lorraine (Ginie) Basile. He is a 1959 graduate of the Savanna High School and a 1963 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.S. of Accounting degree. On June 17, 1972 Ronald married Terrill (Tropp) Pittman.

Ron worked forty years as accounting supervisor at the Savanna Army Depot and the Rock Island Arsenal. He was a member of St. John Vianny Catholic Church, Bettendorf, the Knights of Columbus, and the Jaycees. Ron loved all sporting events, especially attending basketball and football games.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Terrill Basile of Bettendorf, Iowa; four step children, Jeff (Lisa) Pittman of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Charles (Laurie) Pittman of Villa Park, California, Cindy (Jerry) Rayley of Knoxville, Tennessee and Kristi (Daniel) Demarr of Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his mother, Lorraine Basile of Bettendorf; and a sister, Karen (Douglas) Dollard of Pleasanton, California. Ron is preceded in death by his father, Tony Basile.
