Roger Roy Wilslef, age 64, of Preston, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, with Reverend Gregory Geier officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2008, at Miller Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Memorials may be given in Roger’s name for St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Roger was born September 21, 1944, in Preston, Iowa, the son of Milo and Hazel (Ringen) Wilslef. Roger attended and graduated from Preston Schools. On March 29, 1964, Roger married Carolyn DeHoet in Zwingle, Iowa.
He farmed in the Preston area and drove school bus for the Preston School system. Roger worked for Ralston Purina in Clinton, Iowa for twenty-eight years and then for Pacific Coast Feather in Maquoketa, Iowa until retirement.
Roger enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and riding 4 wheelers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Most of all, Roger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Roger will be dearly missed by his wife, Carolyn; two sons, Ronald (Mary) Wilslef of Miles, Iowa and Richard (Kelli) Wilslef of Maquoketa, Iowa; two daughters, Rebecca (Dwayne) Wimpey of Miles and Rachel (Markus) Reber of Bern, Switzerland; thirteen grandchildren; two brothers, Harlen (Marilyn) Wilslef of Preston and Delbert Wilslef of Preston; two aunts and one uncle. Roger was preceded in death his parents.
