Roger Stoddard loved being a Dad. Sharing chocolate milk and donuts, and playing legos with Dominic made him the happiest. At the age of 30, Roger was taken too early, Saturday, March 11, 2023 in Waterloo, Iowa after a tragic accident. A Memorial gathering will be held 10 – 11 am, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, followed by a service at 11 am. All friends and family are invited.
Roger was born April 11, 1992 in Reno, Nevada, the son of Michael and Dorothy (Keeler) Stoddard. He grew up in California until the age of 13. His mother, Dorothy passed away from breast cancer in 2005, and his father, Michael, died a few months later after a motorcycle accident. The kid that had the world by the tail moved to Savanna, Illinois to live with his paternal grandparents, Martin and Shirley Stoddard. In youthful years, Roger enjoyed learning about motors, dirt-bikes, cars and four-wheelers. He was known for being helpful, loving and happy-go-lucky, but sometimes could be hard-headed and stubborn. He was a straight-shooter and loved debating with Grandma and Grandpa.
Roger attended West Carroll High School where he met Melissa Knight. They became friends in 2005, began dating in 2009, and were married in 2013. Roger and Melissa had a son, Dominic William. Roger loved spending time with Dominic, especially when they could work on a motor or watch mud bogs.
Roger’s work took him from several different states as he worked for Generac in Wisconsin, then Hawkeye Paving through-out the state of Iowa, and Nabors Drilling in Williams County, North Dakota. He was a hard worker, and one that his employers appreciated.
Roger and Melissa were divorced. In 2021, Roger met Kami Bolsinger while working around Manchester, Iowa, and began their relationship.
Roger will be dearly missed by his son, Dominic, and Dominic's mom Melissa of Clinton; his grandmother, Shirley Stoddard of Savanna, Illinois; his significant other, Kami Bolsinger and her daughter, Star of Manchester; a brother, Daniel Lee of California along with nephews Kaden and Karson; four aunts; and many friends. Roger is preceded in death by both parents; his maternal grandparents; his paternal grandfather, Martin; and his best friend, Timothy Dylan Fosdick in 2010.
