Carroll, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as one hour prior to Saturday’s service. Burial will follow at Chadwick Cemetery.
Roger was born April 18, 1957, in Sterling, IL, the son of George and Evelyn (Dambman) Jacobs. He attended Chadwick schools, graduating from Chadwick High School with the class of 1975. Following graduation, Roger went to work milking cows for the neighbor’s farm before going into the drywall business. He worked for Lena Builders for eight years, then decided to go into business for himself. He and his brother Jerry, together, operated Jacobs Wallboard Hangers for more than 30 years.
On May 20, 2000, Roger married Terri Stanley. They were lifelong partners who loved to do everything they could together; state fairs, tractor pulls, really anything that would involve quality time with his beloved Terri. They especially enjoyed travelling. They crossed places off their list such as Jamaica and Florida, and loved their little weekend getaways around the Midwest. Every year they would celebrate their anniversary in the Wisconsin Dells.
Roger was a family man and a hard worker. He adored his children and grandchildren (definitely more-so the grandchildren), and instilled in them the importance of honest work and doing things right the first time!
Roger will be dearly missed by his wife, Terri; children, Amy Jacobs, Bonnie (Ron) Farrey, Brittany (Dustin) Youtzy, Christopher (Tonya) Mecum, and Dylan (Ashley Brockman) Mecum; grandchildren, Nathan, Taylor, Stephanie, Brayden, Natalia, Michael, Devin, Piper, and Vivian; brother, Jerry (Janice) Jacobs; mother-in-law, Sharron Stanley; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn, and father-in-law, Terry Stanley.
