Rodney "Rod" Stotler

Rodney “Rod” Stotler, age 66 of Hanover, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Hanover United Presbyterian Church, Hanover. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00-1:00 p.m., prior to the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hanover United Presbyterian Church in Rod’s memory.
Rod was born on May 30, 1949, the son of William and Alvina (Bolz) Stotler in Sidney, Nebraska. Rod was raised in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of 1967. Rod enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Rod married Donna Harkness on April 26, 1969 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
After Rod was honorably discharged, he began working at the Savanna Army Depot as a Communication Network Administrator. In 1998, Rod and Donna were both transferred to the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. Rod and Donna both retired in March of 2005 and moved back home to Hanover. After retirement, Rod and Donna travelled and cherished visiting their children and grandchildren. Rod was a member of the Hanover United Presbyterian Church. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Rod will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Donna; three children, Becky (Kevin) Sefton of Egan, Minnesota, Bob (Jolene) Stotler of Colona, Illinois, and Jeremy (Jennifer Wagner) Stotler of Springerville, Arizona; ten grandchildren; two brothers, David (Sandra) Stotler of Blue Grass, Iowa and Raymond Stotler of Akron, Colorado; and one sister, Wanda (Todd) Anderson of Brandenburg, Kentucky.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents; four nieces, Shana Anderson, Sheila Stotler, Kathy Springer, and Gwendolyn Brown; and two brothers-in-law.
