Rodney Clair Dobson

Rodney Clair Dobson, age 79, of Green Island, IA peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at home. Following Rodney's wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6 from 5pm to 7pm at Law Jones Funeral Home in Preston, IA.

Rodney was born October 29, 1942 in Osceola, IA, to Clair and Benita Dobson. He graduated from Miles High School. On January 22, 1972 Rodney married Patty Mae Walling. They were married for 32 years. Rodney worked as a heavy equipment operator. After retiring in 2004, he spent most of his free time with family. Rodney was a devoted son and cared for his mother very much. Sometimes you would find him in the bottoms of Green Island, IA fishing with his grandkids. Other times you would find him attending their sporting events cheering them on. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being a grandfather.

Rodney is survived by his mother, his brother Sammy Dobson, four children; Melissa (Dave) Dixon, Jenny Dobson, Charles Dobson, and Betty Jo Dobson; eight grandchildren, Samantha Hansen, Rodney (Sara) Hansen, Frankie Hansen, Cassie Lundin, Anthony (Destiny) Thoma, Charli Dobson, Nathaniel (Darcy) Zigler, and Jonathan (Isabelle) Dobson; and 18 great grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and great granddaughter Kiara Jo Hansen.
