Savanna,Ilinois

Roberta “Bobbi” Lou Hochbaum, 75, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Sterling, Illinois. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21, at 11:30 a.m., at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service.

Born July 7, 1950, to Lyle and Doris (Sigafus) Tipp, Bobbi was a lifelong resident of Savanna. She attended Savanna schools and, on March 16, 1968, at just 18 years old, married the love of her life, Thomas Hochbaum Sr.

Bobbi embraced her role as a homemaker with joy and dedication, raising their two boys and taking on various jobs over the years whenever opportunities arose. She enjoyed simple pleasures that brought her genuine happiness. Bobbi loved playing Bingo, often alongside her mother at the old Casey Hall, and she cherished the friendships and familiar faces that came with those evenings.

She and Tom shared a deep love of the outdoors, spending countless summer days camping, especially at the Savanna Army Depot campground. There, they made lifelong memories with friends, including the Smith and Kinder families, and spent many peaceful hours fishing and exploring the Mississippi River.

Bobbi also treasured her friendship with Gayle Ehredt, with whom she enjoyed many shopping trips and day-long adventures. Bobbi, Tom, Gayle, and Dave Ehredt created a lifetime of stories on their many day trips together.

In her final years, Bobbi faced significant health challenges with quiet strength. She was blessed to have her two sons faithfully by her side.

Bobbi will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the way she found joy in the simple, shared moments of life. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She is survived by her sons, Tom Hochbaum, Jr. of Morrison, IL and Robert (Melissa) Hochbaum, of Bartelso, IL; three grandchildren, Hunter, Avery, and Finley; brother-in-law, Gary (Sue) Hochbaum; and nieces, Wendy and Leah. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Doris; husband, Tom, Sr.; and daughter, Holly Ann Hochbaum.
