Robert Wilson

Robert Allen Wilson, age 67, of Savanna, Illinois died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church, Savanna, with Pastor Gary Abney officiating. A memorial fund has been established in Robert’s name.
Robert was born October 6, 1944 in Savanna, the son of Kline and Arlene (Dettman) Wilson. He attended Savanna Schools. Robert married Ruth (Klein) Smith November 6, 1984.
Robert enjoyed camping, skating, biking, tinkering with things, and watching wrestling and old westerns. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He worked at Eaton Corporation in Savanna for many years.
Robert is survived by his wife Ruth of Savanna; three children, Tanya (Jerimy) Schauwecker of Savanna, Heidi (Ralph) Lohmann of Mt. Carroll and Timothy (Rebecca) Wilson of Mt. Carroll; four step children, Fred Smith (Amy Kosier) of Savanna, Greg (Roberta) Smith of Savanna, Gary (Belinda) Smith of Fredricktown, Missouri, Kevin Smith of Savanna and Sharon (Bill) Chadwick of Savanna; 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Sharon) Wilson of Baileyville, Ron (Renee) Wilson of DeWitt, Iowa, Bonnie (David) Long of Locust Grove, Virginia and Joy (Michael) Calvert of Clinton, Iowa. Robert is preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Terry “Slip” Wilson.
