Robert "Bob" Schroeder

Robert “Bob” G. Schroeder, age 80, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died November 11, 2016, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Bob’s name to the First Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll and the Carroll County Good Samaritan.
Bob was born October 7, 1936, in Mt. Carroll, the son of Albert and Lula (Frey) Schroeder. He attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corp from 1959-1962. On January 7, 1961, he married Nancy Dornbush at the Mt. Carroll Methodist Church.
Bob was a self-employed carpenter his entire life and could build or fix just about anything. He was a member of the Mt. Carroll American Legion, First Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll, and a former member of the Lion’s Club. Bob enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and classical music. He especially cherished the time spent with his wife, nieces, nephews, and cats.
Bob will be missed by his wife of 55 years, Nancy; a sister, Florence (William) Burns of Round Rock, Texas; two brothers, Edward (Linda) Schroeder of Los Altos, California, and Alan (Maya) Schroeder of Delray Beach, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lula; step-father, Harold Traum; a sister, Ruth Carter; brother-in-law, Howard Carter; and a niece, Marna Carter.
