Robert “ Bob” Ritchie, age 81, of Savanna, Illinois died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna. Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the Funeral. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Savanna Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2223. Bob was born July 19, 1924 in Savanna the son of Oran and Elsie (Collier) Ritchie. He graduated from Savanna High School, Class of 1943. As a member of the United States Army, Bob served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Dorothy Ann Darr November 27, 1947 in Savanna. She died April 17, 1999 in Clinton, Iowa.Bob worked as a Ammunition Inspector at the Savanna Army Depot, retiring after 40 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Most of all he enjoyed sharing his love for the Mississippi River with family and friends. Bob was always a happy outgoing person, fun to be with. He could brighten any day. Bob will be deeply missed by his two sons, Jay (Karen) Ritchie of Albany, Illinois and Thomas (Mindy) Ritchie of Savanna, Illinois; one daughter, Sharon (Eldon) Zink of Savanna; eight grandchildren, Scott (Kari) Ritchie, Jeremy (Mindi) Ritchie, Ryan Ritchie, Mindy (Fred) Otte, Lynne, Katie, Andrew Ritchie and Annie Zink; daughter in-law, Rita (Doug) Simmons; two great grandchildren; Adeline Ritchie and Cayden Otte; two sisters, Marcile Jones of Fulton, Illinois and Lois Kroll of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann; both parents; one son, Jerry and two brothers, Lyle and Wayne.
