Robert V. Pitts, age 65, of Preston, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center West, Davenport, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Burial will be in the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston.
Robert was born June 11, 1940 in Avon, Illinois, the son of Verl and Pauline (Dunham) Pitts. Robert attended Alwood High School in Woodhull, Illinois. On August 5, 1971 Robert married Ruth Proske in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Robert worked as a truck-driver hauling freight from place to place. He was a “Jack of All Trades” loved his family, enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching war and western movies. Robert liked to go to air-shows and watch the skilled pilots fly the planes. He also enjoyed spending time with his two dogs, “Hooch and Lucy”.
Robert will be deeply missed by wife, Ruth, his daughter, Lori (Adam) Meyer of Leaf River, Illinois; four sons, Rob (Karen) Pitts of Chillicothe, Illinois, Jerry Dean (Suzanne) Pitts of Monmouth, Illinois, Tom (Tammy) Pitts Maquoketa, Iowa, and Tim Pitts of Miles, Iowa; seven grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Jim) Swank of Owasso, Oklahoma.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
