Robert “Bob” and Patricia “Pat” Fosdick died suddenly as the result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Jo Daviess County. Cremation Rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., prior to the service at the Church. A memorial fund has been established in their memory.
Robert and Patricia were married on July 14, 1951 in the First United Methodist Church, Galena. They enjoyed travelling and camping together. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Patricia enjoyed the outdoors, but despised fishing, so much so, that she wouldn’t allow fish of any kind into the house. Most of all, Bob and Pat enjoyed spending time with each other, family and close friends.
Robert was born on June 6, 1932, the son of Samuel and Elsie (Haring) Fosdick in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. Robert worked as a Brakeman for the Milwaukee Railroad, retiring in 1972. He was a former member of the Savanna City Council and the Savanna Moose Lodge.
Patricia was born on November 27, 1930, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (McDowell) Clough in Guttenberg, Iowa. She attended Galena High School and graduated with the Class of 1948. Patricia was a homemaker, who cherished taking care of her family. She also worked at the Savanna Proving Grounds and at Gambles Retail Store in Savanna. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Savanna.
They will be missed by three daughters, Rhonda Mercer of Hanover, Illinois, Diane (Bill) Robinson of Savanna and Joy Turner of Davenport, Iowa; three sons, Dave (Carol) Fosdick of Savanna, Joe (Debbie) Fosdick of Mary Esther, Florida and Todd (Brenda) Fosdick of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
They were preceded in death by all of their parents; one son, John “Jack” Fosdick; two sons in-law, Guy Turner and Walter “Wally” Mercer; Bob’s brother, Bill Fosdick; Pat's sister, Roberta Madigan; and one grandson, Cory Walter Fosdick Mercer.
