Robert L. Morhardt

Robert L. Morhardt, age 81 of Rockford, Illinois formerly of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at St. Anthony O.S.F., Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2012 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. Burial will take place in the Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. A visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 411 W. Catlin Street, Elizabeth, Illinois 61028 in Robert’s memory.
Robert was born on May 14, 1930, the son of Christian and Anna (Rausch) Morhardt at their home in Mount Carroll, Illinois. Robert married Rosemary A. Binns of Elizabeth on October 10, 1953. Robert farmed his entire life beginning when he was a young man on the family farm. Robert and his family farmed in Pearl City, Illinois and Hanover, Illinois before purchasing their farm in rural Elizabeth. Robert and Rosemary sold their farm in 1999 and retired in Elizabeth. Robert loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, visiting and drinking coffee.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Rosemary of Rockford; two sons, Harvey (Donna) Morhardt of Bartlett, Tennessee and Joseph (Lynn) Morhardt of Meza, Arizona; one daughter, Judy Morhardt of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter in-law, DeLea Morhardt of Freeport, Illinois; six grandsons; three granddaughters; six great grandsons and three great granddaughters; and two sisters in-law, Vada Morhardt of Elizabeth and Lorena Morhardt of Lanark, Illinois.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one son Dale Morhardt; and two brothers, George and Glenn Morhardt.
