Robert Hook, age 78, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Savanna Law – Jones Funeral Home with Father Robert North of the St. Paul Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Savanna Law – Jones Funeral Home.
Robert was born on July 19, 1929, the son of Albert and Bertha (Temple) Hook in Thomson, Illinois. He was a member of the graduating class of 1947 at Thomson High School. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Julienne Johnson on June 29, 1961, in Savanna.
Robert worked as a clerk for the Milwaukee and Soo Railroads for forty years. He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge in Savanna, and the American Legion in Thomson. Robert enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and feeding his dogs. He was a great story teller and always enjoyed visiting with his friends.
Robert is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Julienne of Savanna; one son, David Hook of Thomson; two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Musser of Winnebago, Illinois, and Chris Lee of Savanna; one brother, Bernie Hook of Bossier City, Louisiana, his niece Lynn Soppe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren, Shane Wilkins, Hans Wilkins, Drew Kessler, Brooke Kessler, Laura Kessler, and Katie Lee; eleven great – grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Clara Bergstead, and four brothers, Epa, Albert, George, and Raymon Hook.
