Henry John Griskowsky of Dubuque, IA, passed away March 25, 2022 in Arizona. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11am at Derinda Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am before the service. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Robert Charles Helm, age 93, of Chadwick, IL, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Rock River Hospice and Home, in Sterling, IL. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Lanark, IL, at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the service. Bob was born July 30, 1928, in his family home in Browntown, WI, the son of Charles and Hilda (Kerchner) Helm. At the age of 5 he and his family moved to the Chadwick area. This would become Bob’s beloved home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Chadwick High School then soon enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1948 to 1954. He served aboard the USS Princeton (Aircraft Carrier) during the Korean War.

Upon returning home, Bob married Lois Genese Helm on November 11, 1955. Bob then opened a barber shop in Chadwick, which he operated for 33 years, while also developing and managing mobile home residence parks in Chadwick and Mt. Carroll.

Bob was ever-active in his community, serving as member of the Chadwick Commercial Club (former President), Chadwick Masonic Lodge (former Master), Chadwick American Legion (former Commander), 25 year member of the Chadwick Fire Dept., Chadwick School Board, United Methodist Church, and for a short time as a Carroll County Deputy Sherriff. In his free time, Bob enjoyed socializing with friends and fishing. After retiring he traveled with Genese and wintered in Florida, spending their days fishing and their evenings among friends.

Bob is survived by his two children, Corey (Diane) Helm and Loree Eastlick; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hilda; wife, Genese; and sister, Jean Spillane.
