Robert Derrer Guenzler

Robert Derrer Guenzler, age 86, of Lanark, Illinois, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Brethren Church of Lanark. Burial will follow in the Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday August, 14, 2008, at the First Brethren Church of Lanark. Memorials may be made to the First Brethren Church of Lanark in Roberts Memory.Robert was born July 24, 1922, the son of Fred and Anna (Derrer) Guenzler in Lanark. He graduated from the Lanark High School with the Class of 1940. On October 11, 1942, Robert married Charlotte Flickinger in Lanark. Robert farmed his entire life near Lanark, retiring in 1983. He was a lifetime member and Deacon at the First Brethren Church of Lanark, a Lions Club member, past trustee and supervisor of Rock Creek Lima Township and past member of the Lanark School Board. Besides farming, Robert loved gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman. The time spent with his family was always most important to Robert and he will be dearly missed by them all.Robert is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Charlotte Guenzler of Lanark; two daughters, Bonnie (Leo) Christians of Lanark, and Roberta DeHaven of Freeport, Illinois; two sons, Les (Nancy) Guenzler of Lanark, and Stephen (Carole) Guenzler of Yorkville, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, Bret (Lisa) Guenzler, Nicki (Jay) Gillfillan, Taunya (Don) Kuberski, Shanna (Mark) Dollinger, Shawn (Ellen) Christians, Troy (LeAnne) Christians, Heath (Alicia) Christians, Grant Guenzler, Ashton Guenzler, Patty (Bruce) Hoeve, Stacy (Fiance Chris Bobay) Grove, and Laura (Craig Pannkuk) Groom; twenty great-grandchildren; and one sister, Blanche (Paul) Diffenderfer of Lanark. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Grace and Irma Guenzler and Nola Kenning; and two brothers, Leslie and Maurice Guenzler.
