Robert Lee Frey Sr.

Robert Lee Frey, Sr., age 92, of Mt. Carroll, IL, passed away November 26, 2023 in Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Mt. Carroll. A graveside committal will follow, at Oak Hill Cemetery. Bob was born July 28, 1931, the son of Lewis and Goldie (Marken) Frey, in the Pleasant Valley area of rural Mt. Carroll. He attended a small country school near Scenic Bluff Road. Bob would then enlist in the United States Air Force, serving in Korea during the Korean War.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bob returned home and began working for Anheuser-Busch, in the Chicago area. He retired from the company after more than 30 years as a driver and salesman.

Bob was a lover of animals, who in his younger years, routinely rescued stray dogs he’d find along his sales routes. As he aged, he could often be found watching the birds, and appreciating the sounds of nature around him. He enjoyed time spent with friends and family, especially if it involved a cold Budweiser.

Bob is survived by his three children, Robert L. (Kay) Frey II, of Franklin Park, IL, Tamara Shore, of Hanover Park, IL, and Marc (Jennifer) Frey, of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Michael) Cortese, Robert Frey III, Rebecca (Emelio) Arrieta, and Joshua Frey; and great-grandchildren, Lily and Amelia. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Goldie, and his 10 siblings.
