Robert Eugene Dewulf

Robert ‘Bob’ ‘Papa Bob’ Eugene DeWulf was born on July 11, 1952 at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, IA. He took his final breath at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, IA on Friday, October 20, 2023.

Bob was raised in Tipton, IA and continued farming outside of Tipton until 1993. He has been a resident of the Preston, IA community for the past 30 years. He has made a lasting impression on people as a farmer and a friend. His personality was one that he never met a stranger, regardless of where he was around the country from farming to gas stations, to restaurants, to square dancing, to airports, to museums, to rest stops. He knew your name, the date, happenings with people around the area, your anniversary and birthday until he took his last breath. The past 30 years he spent farming with Jim Carstensen/Doring Corporation and was even in the fields a couple of weeks ago for harvest. This is where he met his longtime friend and co-worker, Brandon Schlect. Farming was what he knew and loved. However, he also loved spending time with family and friends and square dancing. Over the past 24 years he has spent time traveling to Alabama to visit his son and his family and to Georgia to visit his daughter and her family.

Bob is survived by his son, Ryan DeWulf of Alabama; his daughter, Stacy (DeWulf) Brown Hummer of Georgia; grandchildren, Jacob and Jocee DeWulf, Zach (Kayla) Brown; great granddaughters, Brinleigh and Lyla Joy; Bob’s significant other of 22 years, Carol Godat of Clinton, IA; Carol’s children, Tom, Tami, and Todd, grandchildren and great grandchildren that Bob has claimed and loved as his own; brothers, Richard (Ginny) DeWulf of Tipton, IA and Roger (Jany) DeWulf of Tipton, IA, nephew and niece and family, Keaton DeWulf, Katelyn (Michael) Murphy, Craig (Laura), Mariah, and Makayla DeWulf, Angie (Chris), Elizabeth and Tyler Quam.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia (Hesse) DeWulf.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Law Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Following the service all are invited to the Preston American Legion Hall for food and fellowship. Please dress casually in your Hawkeye colors, light pink or square dance attire.
