Rita L. Dittmar, age 91, of Elizabeth, Illinois died Monday, May 25, 2015 at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Elizabeth. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Rita was born December 1, 1923 the daughter of Charles and Rose (Wand) Lewis in Elizabeth. She is a 1941 graduate of the Elizabeth High School. On June 1, 1947, Rita Married Delmar Dittmar at the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth. They celebrated 49 years of marriage until Delmar’s death on June 24, 1996.
Rita was a homemaker and helped her husband on their dairy farm. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth and the Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau. Rita was an animal lover, and she especially loved her cats.
Rita will be dearly missed by her three sons, Richard (Peg) Dittmar of Elizabeth, Steve Dittmar of Winnebago, Illinois, and Robert (Heidi) Dittmar of Elizabeth; four grandchildren, Merri (Trevor) Sevey, Michael (Jonna) Dittmar, Matthew (Melissa) Dittmar and Greta Dittmar; two step-grandchildren, Eric Wiltshire and Terry Wiltshire; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Sevey, Cora, Damon, Bode, Ella, Ruthie, and Anna Dittmar; one sister, Patricia Brown of Elizabeth; a sister-in-law, Elsie Mae Lewis of Elizabeth, and many nieces and nephews.
Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar; one brother, Wendall Lewis; her parents; and lifelong friend Evelyn Arnold.
