Rick Keith Sivertsen, Sr., age 72, of Mt. Carroll, previously of McHenry and Carpentersville passed away at home in the care of FHN Hospice and his loving family.
Rick was born February 25, 1949 in Chicago, the son of Harlan and Sylvia (Mallak) Sivertsen. He is a 1967 graduate of the Barrington High School. Rick served in the US Army from 1969 – 1972. On August 16, 1969 Rick married Colleen Duffie. They raised three children and celebrated 52 years of marriage. He was a great husband and father, always a gentleman, caring and accepting, and always funny. He loved using his sense of humor to keep things interesting.
He worked for the Illinois Bell telephone company as a Central Office Technician for many years, retiring in 2003.
Rick and Colleen are members of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick. Rick loved to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing and watching football.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Colleen of Mt. Carroll; two daughters, Cheryl (Frank) Sroka of Kokomo, Indiana and Kristin (Ben) Kozlak of Woodstock; his son, Rick (Stephanie) Sivertsen, Jr. of Schaumburg; nine grandchildren; a sister, Caryn Hennessy of Appleton, Wisconsin; and a brother, Brett (Elayne) Sivertsen of Chadwick. He is preceded in death by both parents.
The Celebration of Rick’s life will be held by the family at a future date.
