Richard was born May 27, 1925, in Lanark at his grandmother’s home on East Prairie Street, the son of Homer and Edmo (Rahn) Zuck. He attended the Union Country School and was a graduate of the Lanark High School with the Class of 1943. On Sept. 4, 1948, Richard was united in marriage to Evelyn Piesen.
Richard farmed all of his life near Lanark. He loved serving the Lord. He was a member of the Lanark Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Church board chairman and choir leader. His Bible was truly worn from constant reading.
Richard had a beautiful tenor voice and had a passion for music. He enjoyed golfing, antiquing, watching the Fighting Illini, and reading, especially about the Amish life. Richard enjoyed talking with folks and learning about their lives. His many grandchildren have fond memories of him spending as much time as he could, entertaining them.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Evelyn of Lanark; six children, Susan (Charlie) Winterton of Leaf River, Bob (Connie) Zuck of Lanark, Jim (Vickie) Zuck of Chadwick, Karen (Mike) Bushman of Lanark, David (Carolyn) Zuck of Dakota and Michael (Connie) Zuck of Shannon; a sister in-law, Carolee Zuck of Mt.
