Richard "Dick" Dewey

Richard “Dick” Dewey, age 81, of Mt. Carroll, passed away at home on October 13, 2025.

Dick was born on December 28, 1943, in Amboy, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Merle (Randall) Dewey. He graduated from Dixon High School with the Class of 1961. On February 3, 1962, Dick married Linda Scheffler. Together they raised five sons and shared 50 years of marriage before Linda’s passing in 2012.

Dick owned and operated Dewey Automotive and Tire Service in Mt. Carroll for 20 years. Known for his honesty and hard work, he took pride in helping neighbors keep their cars running. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and hobby farming—simple pleasures that brought him peace.

He is survived by his five sons; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother; and a sister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents; a brother; a brother-in-law; a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
