Richard “Dick” Kenwyn Michael Delp, age 83, of Savanna died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Online condolences may be left for the family at

Richard was born July 10, 1929 in Savanna, the son of Robert M. and Thelma A. (Warfield) Delp. He attended Savanna Schools. On October 16, 1948, Richard married his sweetheart, Anna Marie Hazen. They have celebrated 64 years of marriage.
His working years began at the Savanna Railroad Roundhouse with steam locomotives and ended with many years of service at Savanna’s Army Depot. Within his career there, he began in the plumbing shop and ended working in the Special Weapons division. In addition to his full-time positions, his earlier years included dairy farming, taxi driver, gas station attendant, school bus driver, security, and Boy Scout leader. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Richard loved God and he appreciated each day. He loved his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their sports events. Visiting and staying connected to extended family was very important. Richard was very giving. He and his wife, Anna, opened their home to people in need and were very committed to helping everyone. He enjoyed travel and moved his family to various locations on a temporary basis to experience different parts of the country. Richard enjoyed dancing and walking and he had a great sense of humor.
Richard will be dearly missed by his wife, Anna of Savanna; daughter-in-law, Pam Delp of Savanna; son, George (Tami) Delp of Mt. Carroll; daughter, LeAnn of Savanna; son, Jim (Jean) Delp of Normal; son, Raymond Delp of Savanna; son, Bill (Rhonda Lampe) Delp of Savanna; daughter, Delores Jo “Lori” Inness of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Arand of Warren, Delores Helle of Pittsfield, JoAnn Hovorka of Pekin; two sisters, Judy (Norm) Nuenschwander of Belvidere and Janet (Russ) Libberton of Savanna; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Richard is preceded in death by a son, Michael Kenwyn Richard Delp; two infant sons, Robert William and Paul Edward; both parents, and a brother, Robert.
