Richard L. “Bear” Haring, Sr., age 57, of Savanna, Illinois, died on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Memorials may be given to the family in Dick’s memory. Dick was born on February 24, 1952, the son of Merle F. and Ruth J. (Green) Haring Sr. in Savanna. He attended school in Savanna and later served his country the United States Army from 1969-1971. Dick married Charleen L. Anderson on December 5, 1980 in Dixon, Illinois.
Dick worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad in the railroad car shops for several years. He then worked for Dura Automotive Systems in Mount Carroll, until they closed their doors. Dick loved watching professional sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Dick enjoyed spending time with his friends and leaning on his truck, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon. Most of all, Dick loved spending time with his family.
Dick will be dearly missed by his wife, Charleen of Savanna; a son, Richard L. Haring, Jr. of Savanna; two daughters, Ruth J. (Randy) Hurt of Savanna, and Jamie (Jeff) Anderson of Stockton, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jarin, Cody, Ryleigh, Andrew, Tyler, Ramsey, Bryar, and Reese; two brothers, Merle F. (Chris) Haring, Jr. of Savanna and Donald (Louise) Haring of Roscoe, Illinois; and several loved nieces and nephews.
