Richard Lee Adolph, age 87, of Chadwick, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2009 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick with Reverend Marcia Strahl officiating. Burial will be at the Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Richard was born January 25, 1922 in Fairhaven Township, the son of Albert and May (Weber) Adolph. He grew up on the family farm and attended the Fox Country School. On January 21, 1945, Richard married Alice Queckboerner.Richard farmed all of his life. He enjoyed attending farm auctions and tractor pulls. Many people knew him as “white hat”, as he often wore a white cap. Richard loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick and the Carroll County Farm Bureau.Richard will be dearly missed by his wife Alice of Chadwick; two daughters, Sharon ( Robert) Kappes of Chadwick and Juanita Adolph of Plains, Montana; a son, Terry (Deb) Adolph of Chadwick; six grandchildren, Katherine (Pat) Staples, Julie (Oscar) Moralez, Roy (Shelly) Kappes, Sandra Kappes, Alicia (Tim) Dudley and Jackie (Gregg) Wiersema; 12 great grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Jesse, Andrew, Brooke, Blake, Blayne, Jameson, Makenzie, Logan, Carter and Alicen; and a sister in-law, Ruth Adolph of Morrison. Richard is preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Edith Meyer and Alice Harter; and a brother, Ralph.
