ReNee Carraway Rogers left the land of the living in her home in Clinton, Iowa, on Monday, October 17, 2011. Memorial Services were held at the Mount Carroll, Illinois Church of God on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. The memorial service was in three parts, beginning with a tribute of music by family, friends and the local brass group, the Radiant Riverside Brass. The concert was followed by a formal memorial ceremony, and a graveyard interment at sunset at the Woodland Cemetery north of Mount Carroll.
ReNee was born in Wheelwright, Kentucky, August 15, 1929, the daughter of Faird and Ida May Tackett. Her childhood and youth were spent at Ashland, Kentucky. During this time her aunt and uncle, Mary and James Carraway, officially adopted her, and she changed her name to ReNee Carraway. ReNee married Maurice Rogers in 1950. The young couple moved throughout the country during Mr. Rogers' enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. Maurice and ReNee settled in Fulton to raise their six children until about 1961 when they moved to Clinton, Iowa which they have made their permanent home bringing joy through music to all of Clinton's surrounding communities.
ReNee C. Rogers is survived by her husband, Maurice Rogers, her children, Jon Carlos, Keith Demetrius, Mary Joynelle, James Phillip and Rhonda Lynette; brothers Bert and Franklin; three brothers-in-law, Carl Rogers (Myrna d.), B. H. Gerald Rogers (May) and Kent Rogers (Georgia); seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted parents; her son Maurice Renè; two sisters, Margerie Elizabeth and Mary Katherine; and four brothers, Ferdinand Jr., Raymond, Johnny and Joseph.
