Regina M. Bormann Arkenberg

Regina M. Bormann Arkenberg, age 96, left this world to enter into eternal life with our Blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 10, 2012. Mass honoring her new life, with Christ, will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa, with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Visitation for Regina will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Preston, and at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the church.
She was born into this world on October 4, 1915, the daughter of Frank Feller and Katherine (Etringer) Feller in Springbrook, Iowa. On April 21, 1936 she became the wife of Richard Bormann, Sr. and had nine children, eight of which she and Richard raised to adulthood. Richard left this world on June 5, 1978. On July 8, 1983 she married Robert Arkenburg. Robert left this world on December 12, 1984.
During Regina’s lifetime, she was a farmer’s wife and homemaker, a grocery store and bar owner in Spragueville, Iowa, a nurse’s aide at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa and at the Alverno in Clinton, Iowa, a factory worker at the Sabula Speaker Factory, Sabula, Iowa and Meinerz Creamery in Preston, Iowa before her retirement.
Regina will be missed by her six children, Kenneth (Doris Breeden) Bormann of Goose Lake, Iowa, Leonard (Connie Badrick) Bormann, Beverly Cook, Verlyn (Jane Kilburg) Bormann and Shirly (Steven) Ritenour all of Preston, Iowa and Patricia Reedy of Virginia and four step-children, Henry (Sandy) Arkenberg of Clinton, Ann Scott of Louisiana, Donna (Richard) Peterson of Sabula and Paul (Sue) Arkenberg of Bellevue. Regina is also survived by thirty-two grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, as well as a brother, Cyril (Bertha) Feller of Cascade, Iowa.
Preceding Regina in death were her parents, husbands, two sons, Dwaine and Richard, Jr., a daughter, Donita, three sons in-law, Loras Budde, Dennis Cook and Merle Reedy, five brothers and four sisters.
